Nathan Thompson Presents on Storage Market Issues and Brings New Light to Old Adages
BOULDER, Colo.—October 7, 2008 – Spectra Logic’s chief executive officer, Nathan C. Thompson, joins a prestigious speaker roster next week at Storage Networking World (SNW) Fall 2008, to be hosted at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas. Thompson’s presentation on the crossroad between disk and tape offers an objective exploration of both media in a "Mythbusters" format.
"So many assumptions are accepted as truths in the storage market, and this presentation is a vehicle to expose the realities behind them," said Nathan Thompson, Spectra Logic’s CEO. "Many myths are based on truth, but truths change as technology does. Tape’s death, disk’s capacity limits, reliability, and cost are a few topics that will be thoroughly examined in this session."
Presentation details:
• Date: Thursday, October 16th, 10:20 AM CST, 45-minute presentation with Q&A
• Title: The Marketplace Intersection of Disk and Tape Trends in Tiered Storage
• SNW Track: Business Continuity: Protection, Backup & Recovery
• Summary: Substantial trends are sweeping through the storage landscape including hardware encryption, power efficiency, media lifecycle management, continued improvement in reliability, and the multivendor dominance of LTO relative to all other tape formats due to roadmap predictability, cost effectiveness and density. Mr. Thompson will explore enormous economic benefits seen in primary/secondary storage and backup/archive relative to them.
